How do we define Luxury Travel these days? Some would argue that it is not just about private jets or first class seats and five star hotels. 

I would say that LUXURY is about experiencing something that makes us feel special and that we do not have in our everyday life. The luxury of staying in a boutique hotel with character, where we can truly relax while being pampered. The luxury of escaping the fast pace of our everyday lives. The luxury of spending time with our loved ones. The luxury of just doing nothing. 

For me, luxury is the joy seeing wildlife in its natural habitat, such as the Gorillas in Uganda or the Orangutangs in Borneo. To be awed by ancient monuments like Angkor Wat or the Taj Mahal. But I like the luxury of a local, private guide, who will take me to less crowded areas so I see the sights at quieter times. 

I appreciate the use of a locally hired private driver with an air conditioned car , the ease of private transfers , fast track through the airports. And I love finding a great new hotel , off the beaten track. I am always mindful that luxury is a privilege.
